Plant Care
Plants have lives too. They need proper food and rest like we all do.
Plant care is no rocket science. Follow the thumb rules and get the basics right for your plant to flourish.
THUMB RULES:
INDOOR PLANTS
Water:
Though plants can go on for days with under-watering or excess-watering, it is always recommended to take proper care of the plants.
At Dream Green, we’ve come up with a solution to overcome excess-watering by using soil-less media for potting plants. The excess water hence can easily flow out of the pot through the holes at the bottom of the pot.
As far as under-watering is concerned, the moisture level of the top of the potting mix is a good indicator. A dry media with plants tilted generally means the plant is under-watered,
Generally, it is always ideal to water the plant properly once and let the excess water drain out and then water the plant when the potting mix loses its moisture and starts to turn dry.
Sunlight:
All plants, including indoor plants need a certain amount of natural sunlight which may be direct or indirect or induced. Very few plants (like Zamia, Snake Plant, Palms, etc.) can survive without any natural light.
Excessive direct sunlight burns the leaves of indoor plants while outdoor plants, especially flowering plants and bonsai love bright direct sunlight.
In the case of lack of natural light, the leaves will start to turn yellow and in the case of outdoor plants, leaves will start withering one by one.
For any plant, if the light seems to be insufficient, one can always place the plant in natural direct/indirect sunlight for a few hours every 3-4 days.
Fertilizer:
Usually, plants get their required nutrients from the potting media. The nutrients in the potting mix will last for 6 months to a year at most.
Feeding excessively will cause the leaves to turn brown and the plant will start to rot slowly.
Lack of fertilizing will not harm the plant, but the plant would lack growth and may not stay bright for long.
It is always advisable to fertilize a small quantity of the fertilizer in regular intervals like once in every 15 days or once in a month.
